Plan members and their spouse/significant other will have access to a nationwide network of over 20,000 plan attorneys. These attorneys provide our members with free and discounted legal services.

EACH ATTORNEY WILL PROVIDE SAFETYnet™ MEMBERS WITH:
Nine free services:
1Unlimited initial phone consultations for each new legal matter.
2Unlimited initial face to face consultations for each new legal matter.
3Review of important legal documents. (6 page max per document)
4A free simple will with free annual update.
5A web based free living will form.
6Help representing yourself in small claims court.
7Assistance in solving your problems with government programs.
8When appropriate plan attorneys will write letters on the members behalf.
9When appropriate plan attorneys will make phone calls on the members behalf.
 GUARANTEED LOW HOURLY RATE:
After the free letters, calls and consultations take place, members and their attorneys will have to decide what course of action to take next. In many cases, members will have no choice and litigation will ensue. This is when SAFETYnet™ plan attorneys charge a reduced hourly rate. Plan attorneys will either charge $125.00 per hour, or when appropriate, give members a 40% discount off their usual and customary hourly rate.


RETAINERS:
In the case of extended legal care, plan attorneys may ask you for a retainer. Any retainer sought will be computed by multiplying the number of hours a plan attorney believes a case will take, by the appropriate discounted hourly plan rate. For instance; 10 hours x $125.00 = a retainer of $1,250.00. Any unused portion of the retainer will be returned to you.
 CONTINGENCY FEE DISCOUNTS:
The contingency fee discount will be a 10% reduction of the state maximum rate or the attorney’s usual rate, whichever is lower.

LAW AREAS INCLUDED:
SAFETYnet™ does not exclude any area of the law. Many legal expense insurance products have waiting periods, pre-existing condition exclusions and limitations on usage. This is due to the fact that they have financial exposure to usage, just the same as an HMO. As such, many types of law areas are excluded in their plans. SAFETYnet™ has no exposure and therefore takes the opposite approach and encourages usage. In fact, 80% of all new members use the legal plan within the first 90 days after they join.
